Nearly one year ago, Derek Webb announced his plan to create a “worship” record. For many, this was was a bit of a surprise. Derek Webb is an innovator. His music doesn’t conform to what he describes as the “particular sound or look, narrow subject matter, and an uncomfortably predictable and yet mysteriously expected response” of which most worship products are comprised. In that same tradition, Derek’s new project, Feedback, breaks the mold of the traditional worship album and would best be described as a “worshipful piece of art”.

Feedback is an instrumental, electronic recording and is comprised of three parts. Each part is based on one of the major sections of The Lord’s Prayer. To more fully engage the worshiper, Webb enlisted the help of two abstract artists, Scott Erickson and Jeremy Cowart. Erickson was commissioned to create 9 paintings, one for each line of The Lord’s Prayer, and Coward was commissioned to provide 9 photographs. Together, these three components (sound, paintings and photographs) create an auditory and visual landscape by which to engage in a new and different way in the act of worship.
